Civil War Photography

This past Tuesday night we were treated to a wonderful presentation on Civil War photography by the editor of Military Images Magazine, Ronald Coddington. Both deeply moving and funny, Ron brought to life the Gettysburg Campaign, as told through the stories of the common soldier and the devoted citizen, and captured by the lens of 19th century photography. Bringing to life the Civil War generation in all it's richness, Ron also proved that Victorian America had a lively sense of humor, giving life to the world of black and white that we are used to seeing in 19th century photographs. We can't thank Ron enough for coming to Bucks County to speak for us, as well as for giving us permission to share this priceless image. Enjoy!

Ron Kirkwood on Wednesday, April 5th

We are really excited to welcome back our friend, and brilliant author Ron Kirkwood, to Doylestown next Wednesday, April 5th as our Speaker. Ron is the foremost authority of the Spangler Farm in Gettysburg. Last year the BCCWRT was lucky enough to get a private tour of this historic site by Mr. Kirkwood himself. The presentation will be at Doylestown Borough Hall and will start at 7pm. However, unlike most of our presentations, this will be occuring on a Wednesday Night. You don’t have to be a member to attend and we encourage you to do so. Hope you can make it!
